StarRupture

StarRupture is a first-person open-world base-building survival game developed and published by the Polish studio Creepy Jar, the team behind Green Hell, which entered Steam Early Access on January 6, 2026 for Windows. Players are pioneers dropped on Arcadia-7, a beautiful but ruthless planet orbiting a volatile star whose periodic Rupture events scorch the surface and kill anything caught in the open, so expeditions must be timed between eruptions. Play mixes swarm combat against the alien Vermin with a deep factory layer: ore excavators and laser drills feed smelters, furnaces, fabricators and printers, all wired into a power grid and connected by rails, while blueprints recovered from abandoned outposts unlock the next tier of technology. A corporation reputation system turns the factory into a progression track, because the six corporate factions behind the expedition gate weapons, buildings, the map and character augmentations behind supply commissions. The game supports solo play or four-player online co-op with dedicated servers, and sold more than 500,000 copies in its first two weeks.

Key Systems

  • The Rupture Cycle: Arcadia-7 orbits a volatile star whose periodic Rupture events scorch the planet surface and kill anything left outside shelter, which makes the whole game loop a race between eruptions. Bases are built to survive the wave, and excursions, mining runs and factory expansion are timed around the countdown between events.
  • Vermin Swarm Combat: The planet's hostile life is a family of arachnid-like aliens called Vermin, ranging from Young Slashers and Swarmers up to armored Slashers, exploding and ranged types, and the towering Goliath that shields a swarm of lesser creatures and has to be opened up by coordinated fire.
  • Base Building and Factory Automation: Solar and wind power feed an Ore Excavator and Laser Drill, Smelters and Furnaces refine ore into bars and powder, and Fabricators, Assemblers, Item Printers and Factory structures turn those into components and goods, all connected by a rail network with power draw, heat and storage silos to manage.
  • Corporation Reputation: Six corporate factions (Claywood, Selenian, Griffits Blue, Moon Energy, Clever Robotics and Future Health Solutions) take deliveries launched from the Orbital Cargo Launcher, and each reputation level they grant unlocks specific blueprints, buildings, weapons and upgrades, including the map itself.
  • Survival Needs and Augmentations: Oxygen, hydration, calories, temperature and radiation all have to be managed, while LEM (Limbic Enhancement Membrane) augmentations add permanent stat upgrades, with LEM slots opening at skill levels 5, 25, 40, 65, 85 and 100 inside each stat track.
  • Blueprint Discovery and Open-World Exploration: Most production chains, weapons and structures are found as blueprints in abandoned outposts, wreckage and points of interest rather than bought, and radiation zones plus the static wall seal off parts of Arcadia-7 for later updates.
  • Solo or Four-Player Co-op: The full survival, factory and defense loop runs solo or with up to four pioneers on hosted or dedicated servers, with roles often split between base defense, production and exploration.
  • Early Access Cadence: Update 1 (April 9, 2026) opened new areas and creatures, Update 2 focused on quality of life with building copy and paste and rebalanced v.2 machine recipes, and a Meta Quest 3 version was announced in July 2026.
