Code Vein II

Code Vein II is a 2026 Soulslike action role-playing game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The player is a Revenant Hunter who dies on a mission and is revived by Lou MagMell, a Revenant girl who gives up her own heart to save them. In a collapsed future menaced by a phenomenon called the Resurgence — and by the Luna Rapacis, which twists Revenants into monstrous Horrors — Lavinia Voda of the MagMell organization sends the Hunter and Lou roughly a hundred years into the past. Lou can follow a person's Pathos and leap through time, so the pair travel between the present and past eras to break the weakening seals left by the Revenant Idris and change the events that doom the world. Combat keeps the series' Blood Code class system, Ichor-fuelled Formae and drain attacks, now built around seven melee weapon types, parries and a single active AI partner who can trigger a duo Hemorrhage attack. Exploration is far more open than the original, with motorcycle travel across large connected regions. The game launched to mixed reviews.

Key Systems

  • Blood Codes — swappable classes that set base attributes (STR, DEX, MND, WIL, VIT, FOR), usable weapons, available Formae and Unique Traits. Around 57 exist, grouped into six bloodlines.
  • Bloodlines — Superbia (raises primary attributes), Caritas (flexible/customizable), Gula (aggressive, Ichor generation), Patientia (crowd control and defence), Luxuria (gimmick playstyles), Acedia (magic focus).
  • Formae — the successor to Gifts, split into Weapon Formae, Bequeathed Formae and Defensive Formae, all fuelled by Ichor.
  • Seven weapon types — One-Handed Sword, Two-Handed Sword, Twin Blades, Rune Blades, Halberd, Hammer and Bayonet, freely swapped and upgraded.
  • Partners — one active AI companion at a time, each granting passive bonuses, attribute boosts and a shared duo Hemorrhage attack. Affinity unlocks partner-specific weapon trades.
  • Time travel — Lou's Pathos-tracking power moves the player between the present and past eras (including 2187), where changing history rewrites the present.
  • Drain, parry and Hemorrhage — draining restores Ichor, perfect guards deflect, and built-up wounds enable heavy Hemorrhage payoffs.
  • Motorcycle traversal across the game's large open regions.
  • Blood Veils from the first game are gone; functional Jail equipment and cosmetic outfits are now separate and freely mixed.
