Dispatch

Dispatch is a 2025 episodic narrative adventure game developed and published by AdHoc Studio, a team of former Telltale Games developers. The player controls Robert Robertson, a former superhero sidekick who inherits the Mecha Man powered armor after his mentor's death and takes a desk job as a dispatcher at the Superhero Dispatch Network in Los Angeles. Rather than fighting crime directly, Robert works the radio: he sends a roster of mismatched, volatile heroes to emergencies, decides who is ready for which call, and lives with the fallout when a dispatch goes wrong. The story runs across eight episodes with branching dialogue, relationship management, and prompt-driven action sequences, mixing workplace comedy with a conspiracy built around the Astral Pulse, the power source tied to the Mecha Man suit, and the masked villain Shroud.

Key Systems

  • Dispatch Desk: Robert's core loop is a board of incoming emergencies rather than a patrol route, and every job asks which of his heroes is the right match for the call.
  • Timed Emergency Calls: Calls arrive against a clock, and the hero sent plus the advice given while the job is live decide whether the team comes home clean or the situation escalates.
  • Hero Roster Management: Each dispatchable hero carries a distinct power set, temperament, and personal history that shapes suitability, chemistry, and the tone of a mission.
  • Branching Dialogue and Relationships: Conversations at the desk and between episodes build or burn trust with the team, changing who takes which assignment and how the season's story resolves.
  • Prompt-Driven Action Beats: The game regularly leaves the desk for playable sequences where Robert or a dispatched hero has to perform under timed input prompts.
  • Episodic Season Format: Eight episodes released in sequence tell one continuous story, with recaps and a persistent save carrying the player's choices forward.
