Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a single-package remake of the first two games in the Erdrick Trilogy, developed by Artdink with Square Enix's Team Asano and published by Square Enix. It rebuilds the 1986 original (a lone hero saving Alefgard from the Dragonlord) and its 1987 sequel (three Erdrick descendants stopping the wizard Hargon and the demon Malroth one century later) in the layered HD-2D diorama art style. Beyond a faithful retelling, the remake adds modern quality-of-life features, a new recruitable character in the Princess of Cannock, and a postgame epilogue that closes out the trilogy.
