Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet is an open-world wuxia action-adventure role-playing game developed by Everstone Studio and published by NetEase Games, launched globally on November 14, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and mobile, with an Xbox Series X|S port following in 2026. The story unfolds in the final years of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, in the years leading to the founding of the Northern Song Dynasty, and casts the player as a customizable young wanderer drawn into the conspiracies of the jianghu. Its defining idea is that the weapon is the class: two equipped Martial Arts weapons dictate the entire moveset, so players train, swap and steal techniques instead of locking into a fixed archetype. Around that sit the Path system, Inner Way passives, Mystic Arts learned through Skill Theft, joinable Sects with their own rules and merit points, and an AI-chat Jianghu full of named NPCs. It is free to play, selling only cosmetic and convenience items, and received an 86 percent Very Positive user rating on Steam alongside a 72 Metascore.
Key Systems
- Weapon-as-Class Martial Arts: two equipped Martial Arts weapons define the whole moveset, so swapping a weapon swaps the role. Nine weapon types ship from launch, from Sword, Fan, Spear and Mo Blade through to Umbrella, Rope Dart, Gauntlets and Dual Blades.
- Martial Arts Paths: General, Bellstrike, Stonesplit and Silk Binding paths, each with sub-schools such as Bellstrike - Splendor, Bellstrike - Umbra and Silkbind - Jade, change how a weapon's skills scale and what role it fills.
- Inner Ways: passive internal arts slotted alongside the weapon that reshape a rotation; they are upgraded with materials gathered from world content and content rewards.
- Mystic Arts: active techniques such as Tai Chi, Cloud Steps, Meridian Touch, Lion's Roar and Veil of Stillness, most of them learned through the Skill Theft system by defeating or observing Jianghu masters.
- Sects and Precepts: joinable sects such as Nine Mortal Ways and Mohist Hill enforce rules, award merit points and unlock sect-only martial arts and shops.
- AI Jianghu: named NPCs support AI chat and Affinity progression, and Wayfarers discovered in each region gradually reveal the world map.
- Free-to-play open world: no subscription and no required purchase, funded by cosmetics and a seasonal battle pass, with the same content available to every player.
