Madden NFL 27

Madden NFL 27 is the annual NFL simulation from EA Tiburon and EA Sports, released on 13 August 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Windows. It carries the full 32-team league into a new season with Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team and Superstar as its three pillar modes, alongside Play Now, Practice and the Skills Trainer. On the field the series' contact-driven tackling, pre-snap adjustments and layered playbooks remain the core, with scheme fit, player progression and salary-cap management deciding how a Franchise run develops across multiple seasons. The presentation package wraps the simulation in the league's broadcast language, from the pre-game show to the post-game recap.

Key Systems

  • Franchise Mode - The long-form mode: take an owner, head coach or player role across multiple seasons, manage the salary cap and contracts, scout and draft, develop a scheme, and chase a Super Bowl while the league's other 31 clubs simulate their own seasons around you.
  • Madden Ultimate Team - Build a roster from collected player items, complete sets and challenges, and take the squad into online seasons or solo challenges; chemistry and scheme fit reward a coherent build over a pile of the highest-rated cards.
  • Superstar - Create a player, take him through the pre-draft process and into a career, then manage weekly preparation, performance and off-field opportunities while climbing from roster bubble to face of the franchise.
  • Contact-Driven Tackling - Physics-led tackling and collision resolution decide whether a hit is a wrap-up stop, a broken tackle or a big hit, and weight, momentum and angle matter as much as the ratings on the card.
  • Pre-Snap Adjustments - Audibles, hot routes, protection slides, defensive shifts and coverage audibles are all available before the snap, making pre-snap reads as important as the throw itself.
  • Scheme and Playbooks - Offensive and defensive playbooks are organised by scheme, and running a coherent system improves player fit, AI teammate behaviour and progression in Franchise.
  • Player Progression - Experience earned in games and practice feeds attribute upgrades and development traits, so drafted players grow into roles rather than arriving finished.
  • Salary Cap and Contracts - Signings, restructures, bonuses and dead money all run against the cap, and a Franchise run is as much a cap-management exercise as a coaching one.
  • NFL Draft and Scouting - Scouting points, pro days and the draft board turn the offseason into a talent-acquisition game, with busts and steals emerging from incomplete information.
