The Blood of Dawnwalker
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an epic dark fantasy action role-playing game developed by Rebel Wolves and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Founded by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz alongside seasoned industry veterans, Rebel Wolves created The Blood of Dawnwalker as the opening chapter of an ambitious new AAA dark fantasy saga. Set in the plague-ravaged 14th-century Carpathian valley of Vale Sangora, the game puts players in control of Coen, a young man who miraculously survived a botched vampiric transformation, becoming a 'Dawnwalker' — a creature human by day and vampire by night. Coen has exactly 30 in-game days and nights to navigate the complex politics of the Vrakhiri Vampire Court, dismantle the influence of three powerful vassal boyars (Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe), and infiltrate the impenetrable Griefberg Castle to rescue his family before Knyaz Brencis sacrifices them in his royal investiture ceremony. Combining Kingdom Come-style directional melee swordplay, supernatural vampiric abilities, Carpathian witchcraft, and a reactive narrative sandbox with seven distinct endings, The Blood of Dawnwalker redefines choices and consequences in action RPGs.
Key Systems
- 30-Day Narrative Sandbox: Coen has 30 in-game days and nights before the investiture sacrifice. Time only elapses upon completing major quest beats, shifting day/night cycles, or making pivotal plot choices; open-world exploration, combat, and roaming never deplete the timer.
- Day and Night Dual Identity: By daylight, Coen is human, relying on grounded directional Swordmastery, stamina management, and Witchcraft rituals. At night, he awakens as a supernatural vampire armed with lethal claws, wall-climbing Planeshift, Shadowstep teleportation, and predatory vision.
- Kingdom Come-Style Directional Melee: Swordplay utilizes a 4-direction stance system where players target unguarded quadrants and execute timed directional parries, ripostes, feints, and limb-cleaving Artery Strikes.
- Vrakhiri Vassal Court Sabotage: Knyaz Brencis' power is sustained by three vassal boyars (Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe). Players can assassinate, humiliate, or ally with them across 41 Court Activities to drastically reshape the final assault on Griefberg Castle.
- Infamy & Brencis' Edicts: Committing crimes or openly flexing vampiric powers raises Coen's Infamy, prompting the Vampire Court to post bounties, erect military checkpoints, and lock down major settlements like Svartrau.
- Blood Craving & Consequence Chains: Vampiric feeding at night satisfies Coen's blood thirst and unlocks high-tier combat buffs, but feeding carelessly upon townsfolk sparks permanent narrative consequences, plague outbreaks, and hostility.
- Sanzhani Burrows & Letters to Lunka: Assist the mystical subterranean Sanzhani creatures across Vale Sangora to establish a secret letter courier network with Coen's captive sister Lunka inside Griefberg Castle.
- Equipment Sharpening & Reforging: Blacksmiths and Armorers enhance weapons (e.g. Sword of St. Mihai, Durandal, The Vrakhir) and armor pieces with Dinarius currency, boosting scaling multipliers and elemental affinities.
