Arc Raiders

Arc Raiders is a 2025 third-person extraction shooter developed and published by Embark Studios, the Swedish studio founded by former DICE leadership. Set on a post-cataclysmic Earth roughly eighty years after a calamity drove humanity underground, survivors shelter in the settlement of Esperanza while the surface is held by ARC, the Autonomous Robotic Collective, a self-replicating machine force that emerged from the disaster. Players take on the role of Raiders who venture topside to scavenge resources, complete quests, and trade fire with both ARC machines and rival Raiders, and must reach an extraction point to keep whatever they have recovered. Its PvPvE loop, tiered loot, workbench crafting, and squad play made it one of the biggest breakout hits of 2025. It launched on October 30, 2025 for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Key Systems

  • PvPvE Extraction Loop: Raiders deploy onto a surface map, scavenge loot, complete tasks, and must reach an extraction point to bank their haul. Dying or failing to extract loses everything carried, so every run weighs risk against reward.
  • ARC Threat: The surface is patrolled by ARC (Autonomous Robotic Collective) machines, from swarming Ticks and Fireflies to towering armored Bastions and the enormous Queen, that react to gunfire, movement, and noise and can be fought or avoided entirely.
  • Loot Tiers and Rarity: Weapons, gear, and loot come in escalating rarity tiers (Common through Legendary), so a lucky surface run can hand a Raider access to stronger kit than their own workbench can yet build.
  • Workbench Crafting: Scavenged materials and salvaged components feed a crafting system that turns raw resources into weapons, ammo, healing, and utility gear, with blueprints unlocking the higher tier recipes.
  • Raider Progression: A persistent upgrade path tracks account-wide progress across survival, combat, and mobility, layering permanent improvements on top of the run-to-run gear cycle.
  • Esperanza Hub: Between runs Raiders return to the underground settlement to trade with vendors, take on quests from its inhabitants, craft at the workbench, and manage their stash and loadouts before deploying again.
