Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's remake of Yakuza 3 (2009), rebuilt for modern platforms and packaged with the bundled Dark Ties content. Kazuma Kiryu has left the Tojo Clan behind to run the Morning Glory orphanage in Okinawa with Haruka and the children, until a land deal tied to a foreign military base and a fresh Tojo Clan succession fight drag him back to Kamurocho. The story alternates between the sunlit Okinawan islands and the neon streets of Tokyo, mixing street brawls and long story sequences with orphanage life, hostess clubs and a large minigame suite. Combat is the series' seamless brawler system, built around environmental Heat Actions, weapon pickups, chase sequences and the Komaki-style counters Kiryu learns from an old master.

Key Systems

  • Two-City Structure - The campaign alternates between Kamurocho in Tokyo and the Okinawan islands, each a freely explorable district hub with its own shops, substories and minigames.
  • Seamless Brawler Combat - Street fights start without a loading transition, using light and heavy attacks, grabs, guards and dodges against groups of enemies.
  • Heat Actions - A meter built by landing hits and taunts pays for cinematic contextual finishers, from slamming heads into walls to using bicycles, signs and other street props.
  • Komaki-Style Training - An elderly martial arts master in Kamurocho teaches counters, parries and throws that turn enemy attacks back on them.
  • Revelations - Filming bizarre street incidents unlocks new Heat Actions, turning overworld oddities into combat upgrades.
  • Chase Battles - Pursuit sequences where Kiryu runs down a fleeing target through crowds while dodging obstacles and stamina drain.
  • Weapons and Equipment - Weapons picked up in the street, bought or crafted have durability, and gear and training upgrade Kiryu's health, Heat gain and damage.
  • Substories and Minigames - Side stories sit alongside karaoke, mahjong, golf, fishing, batting cages, bowling, hostess clubs and casino games.
  • Orphanage Life - The Morning Glory chapters mix conversation and small tasks with the children into the main story rhythm, grounding the stakes in the family Kiryu is protecting.
  • Kiwami Rebuild and Dark Ties - The remake rebuilds the 2009 game with modern visuals and combat presentation, and the package ships with the Dark Ties content named in the title.
