Valkyrie Elysium

Valkyrie Elysium is an action role-playing game developed by Soleil and published by Square Enix, released in 2022 as the third overall and first home-console installment of the Valkyrie Profile series in more than 15 years. Set during Ragnarok, it follows Maria, a Valkyrie created by the injured All-Father Odin to purify the souls of the dead so they may serve as Einherjar in the battle against the wolf Fenrir. The game marks the series' transition from turn-based combat to a fast, three-dimensional action system, while keeping the iconic combo mechanics, elemental Divine Arts, and the signature Nibelung Valesti ultimate attack. Traversing a devastated Midgard, Maria summons AI-controlled Einherjar who imbue her weapons and magic with elemental power, and through multiple endings comes to question the gods' true motives and her own humanity.

• Action Combat — Valkyrie Elysium replaces the series' traditional turn-based RPG battles with a fast-paced, three-dimensional action system. Players control Maria directly in real time, stringing together combo attacks and switching between two equipped weapons on the fly.
• Einherjar Summoning — The Soul Gauge fills as Valkyrie collects items and blue souls. Spending this energy summons an AI-controlled Einherjar spirit who fights alongside Maria, imbues her weapons with an elemental property, and strengthens Divine Arts of the matching element. The Valkyrie's body glows with the active element's color.
• Divine Arts — Special elemental spells learned from scrolls found in treasure chests. They consume the Arts Gauge, which refills from item use and landing combo chains. Using a Divine Art of the element an enemy is weak to grants a major advantage, and it is enhanced further while an Einherjar of the same element is summoned.
• Soul Chain — An ability that extends a wire to distant points for fast traversal. Beyond reaching otherwise inaccessible areas, it can be used mid-combat to quickly close the distance on enemies and keep combos flowing.
• Hollow Blossoms & Verdant Blossoms — Collectible memory flowers scattered through the chapters. Hollow Blossoms reveal the memories of the dead, while gathering every mysterious Verdant Blossom (from Chapter 3 onward) unlocks the game's true conclusion and determines which of its multiple endings plays out.
• Nibelung Valesti — The Valkyrie's signature all-out ultimate attack, granted automatically after completing Chapter 8. It unleashes a devastating multi-hit barrage on all enemies caught in range.
