Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Switch 2 Edition

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a 2D action platformer developed by Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo. It is the first brand-new side-scrolling Super Mario game in over a decade, set in the Flower Kingdom, a vibrant realm whose magical source of life, the Wonder Flower, is stolen by the troublemaker Bowser, who transforms himself into a floating castle and seizes the kingdom. The iconic Wonder Flower triggers surreal, stage-transforming Wonder Effects that reinvent each course's goal, camera, terrain, and rules. The Switch 2 Edition re-releases the game on Nintendo Switch 2 with higher-fidelity visuals, refined performance, and added content that returns to the Flower Kingdom, alongside the signature up-to-four-player local and up-to-twelve-player online multiplayer.

Key Systems

  • Wonder Flower & Wonder Effects — Touching a Wonder Flower triggers a stage-transforming Wonder Effect that can move or change the goal, shift the camera, reshape terrain, or bend the gameplay rules in surreal and unexpected ways before reverting when the effect ends.
  • New Power-Up Line — Wonder introduces the Elephant Fruit (transform into a trumpeting elephant), the Bubble Flower (blow capturing bubbles that trap enemies), and the Drill Mushroom (burrow underground and spin-drill through terrain), alongside returning classics such as the Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, and Super Star.
  • Full Playable Cast — Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, Toadette, and Nabbit are playable heroes, with the four legs of the classic duo teaming with a rideable Yoshi; Yoshi cannot use power-ups or Wonder Flowers and acts as a companion.
  • Badge System — Players equip a Badge before a course to unlock special abilities such as the Parachute Cap, Grappling Vine, or Boomerang, adding mechanical customization and replayability to every level.
  • Talk-Flower Commentary & New Denizens — Pop-up talking flowers and the sentient people of the Flower Kingdom, including the apple-like Poplins, add humorous commentary throughout, while new creatures such as the Muncups populate the land.
  • Multiplayer — Up to four players can explore, race, and complete courses together locally, and up to twelve can play online with ghost versions of other players, emotes, and cooperative goal completion.
