Demonschool

Demonschool is a tactical role-playing game developed by Necrosoft Games with Mystic Systems and published by Ysbryd Games, released on November 19, 2025 for Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. It follows Faye, a transfer student who arrives at a university on the isolated Hemsk Island and discovers that her coursework is really a cover for hunting the demons bleeding into the human world. Battles are built on the studio's motion-equals-action rule: a unit can only travel in straight lines and must move its full displayed distance, so pushing, pulling and knocking enemies into each other decides a fight more than raw damage does. Between battles the game runs a week-by-week school calendar of classes, relationship quests, side jobs and activities such as fishing, and the student party grows to 15 playable members that can be split into squads for the larger fights.

Key Systems

  • Motion Equals Action Combat: a unit can only move in straight lines and must travel the full distance shown by its movement range, so every turn is decided as much by where a character lands as by what it attacks, with allies, enemies and scenery blocking or redirecting the path.
  • Knockback, Push and Pull: attacks shove demons along a line, drag them into each other or reel them in, letting a single well-placed hit chain damage through several enemies instead of hitting one target.
  • Elements, Weaknesses and Status Locks: attacks carry types such as Flame, Earth, Spirit and Curse, and students and demons carry explicit weaknesses and resistances, while statuses like Tether and the stronger Grabbed pin a unit in place for a turn.
  • Week-by-Week School Calendar: the campaign is structured as dated school weeks that mix lectures, exams, relationship quests, part-time work and side activities with demon battles, so time spent in town is a resource.
  • Relationships and Soulmate Bonds: time spent with classmates raises relationship points and unlocks personal quests, with bonds advancing through friend and soulmate levels that open new conversations and combat perks.
  • Possession: demons possess students and party members during battles, turning them into hazards that must be freed or destroyed before the possessed unit detonates or attacks its friends.
  • Fifteen-Student Party and Squad Deployment: the playable roster grows to 15 students with distinct classes and elements, and the larger battles split the team into several squads placed around the map.
  • Hemsk Island and the Demon World: the university, its cemetery and the surrounding town sit on an island that borders the human and demon worlds, and the story moves back and forth between both sides of that line.
