Darksiders: Warmastered Edition

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is the remastered release of Vigil Games' 2010 action-adventure, and it came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 19, 2026 after its first remaster run on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Wii U in 2016. Players control War, the first of the Four Horsemen, who is summoned to Earth at the breaking of the seventh seal, blamed by the Charred Council for starting the apocalypse early, and stripped of most of his power. He is sent back to a ruined Earth to find the Destroyer, with the Watcher bound to him as both handler and leash. The game pairs a hack-and-slash combat model of light and heavy chains with a Zelda-style structure: every zone hands over a new tool that unlocks traversal and doubles as a weapon, and souls collected from kills buy new moves, Wrath powers and upgrades from the demon merchant Vulgrim.

Key Systems

  • Two-weapon combat: War fights with the heavy Chaoseater greatsword and a wide-sweeping scythe, alternating light and heavy chains, launchers and air combos.
  • Wrath powers: a Wrath meter is spent on teleport strikes, ground spikes and other purchased abilities, refilled by landing hits and breaking objects.
  • Chaos Form: filling the Chaos meter transforms War into a flaming, four-armed demon form with boosted damage and health regeneration for a short window.
  • Soul economy: every kill and destructible drops souls, which Vulgrim trades for new combat moves, Wrath powers, health and Wrath upgrades.
  • Dungeon tools that double as weapons: the Crossblade, Tremor Gauntlet, Abyssal Chain and Mask of Shadows each gate progress in one zone and stay useful in combat afterwards.
  • Collectible shards: hidden Health Shards and Wrath Cores permanently extend the two meters, rewarding exploration of side paths and secrets.
