Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster is a high-definition remaster of the 2012 Nintendo 3DS turn-based JRPG Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, developed by Silicon Studio and published by Square Enix. The story follows Tiz Arrior, the sole survivor of the village of Norende after it is swallowed by a great chasm, who joins Agnès Oblige, the Vestal of the Wind Crystal, on a pilgrimage to reawaken the four crystals of the world of Luxendarc while the militarised Crystal Orthodoxy of Eternia hunts her. Its battle system pairs traditional turn-based combat with the Brave and Default commands, which let characters bank turns or spend future ones for burst damage, and with the Asterisk job system that swaps between more than twenty jobs and their command sets. The remaster keeps the original campaign, its Revo-composed soundtrack and Akihiko Yoshida character designs, and presents them at modern resolutions with quality-of-life options. It launched with the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, and came to Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC on March 12, 2026.
Key Systems
- Brave and Default Battle System: Every character can Default to guard and bank up to three Brave Points, or Brave to spend stored points for multiple actions in a single turn, at the cost of losing future turns if the character goes into negative BP.
- Asterisk Job System: Defeating Asterisk holders grants their job, and players can freely switch any character between more than twenty jobs, mixing a main job command set with support abilities learned from other jobs.
- Crystal Pilgrimage Structure: The campaign is built around reawakening the four elemental crystals, each guarded by a temple and tied to a region of Luxendarc, and each chapter ends with a boss confrontation and a new layer of the story.
- Special Moves: Meeting battle conditions charges each character's Special Move, a cinematic attack that plays a unique Revo-composed song and grants a party-wide effect while it lasts.
- Norende Village Reconstruction: Tiz rebuilds his destroyed hometown by assigning workers to shops and facilities, unlocking equipment, items and services that feed directly back into the main campaign.
- Abilink and Friend Support: Linked friends lend their job levels and can be summoned into battle, letting players borrow abilities and attacks from other save files.
- Encounter and Pace Controls: A configurable encounter rate slider, auto-battle with repeatable command presets and adjustable battle speed let players pace grinding and exploration.
