RuneScape: Dragonwilds

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is an open-world survival crafting game developed and published by Jagex, set on the continent of Ashenfall in the RuneScape world of Gielinor. Players are survivors who awake in a wilderness ruled by the Dragonkin and the Dragon Queen Kuldra, building a base, mastering a dozen gathering and artisan skills, and hunting the dragons that dominate each region. Progression is split between skill levels (Mining, Woodcutting, Farming, Fishing, Runecrafting, Construction, Artisan, Cooking, Agility, plus the combat skills Attack, Magic and Ranged) and a region-driven Power Level gear curve that gates each new area behind stronger enemies and better equipment. The world mixes survival staples such as hunger management, storms, poison and base construction with RuneScape staples like runic magic, lodestones, Dragonkin vaults and quests, and it supports solo play as well as online co-op with dedicated servers. It launched into Early Access on PC in April 2025 and reached its 1.0 release on 15 September 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, closing the Dragon Slayer storyline against Kuldra herself.

Key Systems

  • Twelve-Level-99 Skills: The character sheet spans combat skills (Attack, Magic, Ranged), gathering skills (Woodcutting, Mining, Farming, Fishing), artisan skills (Runecrafting, Construction, Artisan, Cooking) and Support (Agility), each trained independently toward level 99; Hunter and Prayer are slated for later updates.
  • Power Level Gear Curve: Regions and equipment are rated by Power Level, running from the starting zones up to Power Level 9 endgame gear, so entering a higher-power region demands a matching weapon and armour tier.
  • Regional Gear Tiers: Weapons and armour climb the RuneScape metal ladder (bronze, iron, steel, black, mithril, adamant, rune and dragon), with Rune and Dragon armour tiers added at 1.0, and crossbows, bows, staves and the 1.0 wands covering the Ranged and Magic combat styles alongside melee.
  • Base Building and Survival: Construction, farming plots, cooking fires and storage let players raise a permanent camp, while hunger, weather, poison and storms pressure expeditions away from it.
  • Dragonkin Vaults: Sealed dungeon complexes scattered across Ashenfall hold traps, rats, goblins and Dragonkin guardians along with artefacts and high-tier loot; lodestones act as fast-travel and interference points across the map.
  • Runic Magic and Altars: Runecrafting draws runic energy from open vents and forges runes at altars, fuelling the Magic skill and the game's spell and enchantment options.
  • Dragon Slayer Campaign: A main quest chain carries the story from the human settlements of Brynmoor through the goblin castle, the Wise Old Man's tasks and Cathan's trail, up to the Dragon Queen Kuldra and the generals who serve her.
  • Co-op and Dedicated Servers: The world supports solo play as well as online co-op for up to four survivors, with player-hosted or rented dedicated servers for persistent worlds.
  • Regional Power Progression: Enemies are defined by the region they inhabit, from the low-power woods of Brynmoor and Bramblemead Valley up through the Whispering Swamp, the Fractured Plains, the northern highlands of Ghornfell and Fellhollow, the Dowdun Reach and the desert Umbral Sands, and finally the 1.0 endgame region of the Scorned Wilderness where the Regicide questline ends.
