Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is a shopkeeping roguelite action RPG developed by Spanish studio Digital Sun and published by 11 bit studios. A fully 3D, isometric sequel to the 2018 hit Moonlighter, it returns players to the double life of Will, a merchant who sells relics by day and raids procedurally generated dungeons by night. After the interdimensional entity Moloch exiles Will and Rynoka's crew from their home, they rebuild a new shop in the dusty frontier village of Tresna. Gameplay blends hack-and-slash runs through diverse dimensions with backpack relic synergy, shop pricing, town building, and a roguelite gold economy, heavily inspired by Hades. The game launched in early access in November 2025 and reached its 1.0 full release on September 2, 2026.

Key Systems

  • Double Life, Shopkeeper by Day and Delver by Night - Will prices and sells relics to customers during the day (reading buyer reactions and adjusting prices) and raids procedurally generated vaults by night to restock the shop and gather materials.
  • Procedurally Generated Dimensions - Three story dimensions, each with two maps, are generated on every run; Tomo's radar at the Dimensional Gate shows encounter types, loot colors, and path forks so players can plan their route through the vault.
  • Backpack Relic Synergy - Relics carried in the backpack grant combat bonuses and modifiers, with certain relics synergizing to trigger extra effects; quality tiers are raised through Tomo's research rows and Deluxe drops.
  • Shop Pricing and Town Building - Selling relies on pricing items against customer reactions; profits unlock shop decor and display stands, and new merchants (Eris, Babyl, Nou, Julien, the Countess) each offer distinct upgrades in Tresna.
  • Roguelite Gold Economy and Vault Unlocks - Lifetime gold earned from shop sales fuels the Endless Vault: Vault I (10,000 gold) opens The Gallery, Vault II (50,000) opens Aeolia, and later Vaults unlock endgame content such as the Greed Colosseum arena and endless runs.
