Dinoblade

Dinoblade is a third-person soulslike action RPG developed by Team Spino LLC, the studio of solo developer Jean Nguyen, and published with Boltray Games. It released for Windows PC through Steam on July 23, 2026 at $19.99. The player controls a young Spinosaurus who carries a greatsword sized for a dinosaur and fights other weapon-wielding dinosaurs across a prehistoric world, trying to stop a coming extinction. Combat is built on the genre's posture and parry loop but tuned around the reach and recovery of a single oversized blade, with a perfect parry and an Instinct Counter that punish predictable swings. Beyond the campaign the game ships a Boss Rush mode, a set of roughly sixteen to eighteen boss encounters depending on optional fights, and twenty-nine Steam achievements.

Key Systems

  • Posture and Parry Combat: every dinosaur fight is built around reading a swing and answering it. Blocking at the moment an enemy weapon comes down lands a Perfect Parry, which builds posture damage on the boss instead of draining the player's own guard.
  • Instinct Counter: a counter window introduced early in the campaign, first taught by the Kira the Exile fight, that turns a read attack into free damage.
  • Resolve Bar: bosses carry a resolve meter beneath their health bar that fills as the player applies pressure and opens up punish windows when it breaks.
  • Single Weapon Discipline: the Spinosaurus fights with a greatsword and nothing else, so progression comes from learning reach, spacing and heavy combo timing rather than from swapping weapon classes.
  • Boss Rush Mode: a separate mode that strings the campaign's boss fights together back to back for players who want the fights without the traversal between them.
  • Ore and Sword Upgrades: gear progression runs through ore gathered in the world and put into the greatsword, alongside the standard soulslike level and stat investment.
