Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a 3D action-adventure platformer from HAL Laboratory in which Kirby is swept into a mysterious post-human world and must rescue the kidnapped Waddle Dees from the Beast Pack. Built around Kirby's signature Copy Abilities and the new Mouthful Mode transformations, the campaign sends players across the abandoned ruins of a forgotten civilisation, from the grassy Natural Plains through a derelict shopping district and frozen mountains to the Beast Pack's strongholds. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition re-releases the full game with higher resolution and performance, adds the Star-Crossed World expansion adventure, and brings a two-player local co-op mode with Bandana Waddle Dee. Players rebuild Waddle Dee Town as they free captured Dees, upgrade abilities with blueprints at the Weapon Shop, and hunt down every hidden Treasure Road stage on the way to confronting Fecto Forgo.
Key Systems
- Copy Abilities — Kirby inhales enemies to copy their powers, gaining a full moveset per ability; classic powers such as Sword, Cutter, Fire, Ice, Bomb, Hammer, Ranger, Needle, Tornado, Drill, Crash and Sleep return, each with distinct combos and crowd-control options.
- Mouthful Mode — Kirby can swallow large objects that are too big to inhale normally, temporarily transforming into vehicles and machines such as Car Mouth, Vending Mouth, Cone Mouth, Lightbulb Mouth, Coaster Mouth, Scissor-Lift Mouth and Water-Balloon Mouth to solve environmental puzzles and smash through Beast Pack defenses.
- Ability Evolution — Blueprints found in stages are taken to Waddle Dee Town's Weapon Shop, where a Copy Ability can be permanently evolved into a stronger variant with expanded movesets and damage.
- Waddle Dee Town Rescue and Rebuilding — Every stage hides captured Waddle Dees; freeing them repopulates the hub town and unlocks its facilities, including the Weapon Shop, Item Shop, Cafe, Cinema, Gotcha Machine and Colosseum-style challenge content.
- Treasure Road Challenge Stages — Optional timed gauntlets built around a single Copy Ability or Mouthful Mode, rewarding Rare Stones used for ability evolution and cosmetic unlocks.
- Two-Player Local Co-op — A second player joins as Bandana Waddle Dee with spear attacks and can be dropped in or out at any point, including in the Star-Crossed World expansion stages.
- Star-Crossed World Expansion — The Switch 2 Edition's new adventure adds starlit remixes of the Forgotten Land's regions with new stage layouts, additional Mouthful Mode objects, new enemy placements and new boss encounters layered on top of the base campaign.
- Waddle Dee's missions and stage ranks — Each stage tracks optional missions and a completion rank (bronze through platinum) that rewards Star Coins and Gotcha Figures, encouraging replay with different abilities.
