Hades II

Hades II is the critically acclaimed roguelike action role-playing game developed and published by Supergiant Games, serving as the studio's first-ever direct sequel. Rooted in Greek mythology and witchcraft, players control Melinoë, the immortal Princess of the Underworld and younger sister of Zagreus. Following the sudden escape of Chronos, the Titan of Time, and his subjugation of the House of Hades and the Olympian gods, Melinoë embarks on a dual campaign to conquer both the depths of the Underworld and the besieged heights of Mount Olympus. Melinoë combines fluid, high-octane hack-and-slash combat with dark magick, deep progression through the Silver Pool's Nocturnal Arms, customizable Arcana Cards, the Cauldron's Incantations, loyal Animal Familiars, and divine Boons from Olympian deities and primordial entities.

Key Systems

  • Dual-Route Campaign — Parallel campaigns spanning the Underworld Descent (Erebus, Oceanus, Fields of Mourning, Tartarus) to defeat Chronos, and the Surface Ascent (City of Ephyra, Rift of Thessaly, Mount Olympus, The Summit) to relieve the siege on Olympus.
  • Dark Sorcery & Omega Moves — Melinoë harnesses a renewable Magick pool to charge powerful Omega variants of her standard Attack, Special, and Cast, weaving defensive zoning with devastating burst damage.
  • The Nocturnal Arms & Aspects — Six infernal weapons (Witch's Staff, Sister Blades, Umbral Flames, Moonstone Axe, Argent Skull, and Black Coat) crafted at the Silver Pool, each featuring four unique Aspects (three standard and one hidden) that fundamentally alter combat mechanics.
  • Altar of Ashes & Arcana Cards — A tarot-inspired customization system where players allocate Grasp to equip cards conferring potent passive boons, conditional buffs, and build-defining synergies.
  • Cauldron of Hecate & Incantations — Melinoë brews botanical, mineral, and spiritual reagents harvested across runs to unlock permanent hub facilities, reveal routes, spawn fishing spots, and alter chamber rules.
  • Olympian Boons & Elemental Synergies — Deities grant blessings infused with five mythic Elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Aether), enabling game-changing Infusion powers alongside traditional Duo Boons and Legendary upgrades.
  • Moon Sorcery & Hexes — Selene bestows celestial Hex transformations and spells, customizable mid-run via the branching Path of Stars talent tree.
  • Animal Familiars — Bond with loyal companions (Frinos the Frog, Toula the Cat, Raki the Raven, Gale the Polecat, Hecuba the Hound) using Witch's Delights to gain combat buffs and resource-gathering perks.
  • Oath of the Unseen & Testaments of Night — A post-game risk-reward modifier system challenging players with bespoke handicaps (Fear) to earn rare Nightmare reagents for weapon masteries.
