Orbital Velocity Calculator
Calculate orbital velocity, period, and escape velocity for celestial bodies
Mass of the central body (e.g., planet, star)
Distance from center of central body
Orbital Velocity
m/s
km/h
Orbital Period
days
hours
Escape Velocity
m/s

Calculation Details
Orbital Velocity Formula:
v = √(GM/r)
Where:
- G = 6.674×10⁻¹¹ m³/(kg·s²) (Gravitational constant)
- M = Central body mass
- r = Orbital radius
Orbital Period Formula:
T = 2π√(r³/GM)
Escape Velocity Formula:
v_escape = √(2GM/r)
Features
- Calculate orbital velocity for any celestial body
- Determine orbital period in days and hours
- Calculate escape velocity from the orbit
- Preset configurations for common orbits (ISS, Moon, Earth, Mars)
- Results displayed in multiple units (m/s and km/h)
- Shows formulas and calculation details
How to Use
- Enter the central body mass in kilograms (e.g., Earth's mass: 5.972×10²⁴ kg)
- Enter the orbital radius in meters from the center of the central body
- Or select a preset for common orbits
- View the calculated orbital velocity, period, and escape velocity
